摘要The feasibility for removal of dissolved copper (Cu(II)) and lead (Pb(II)) from aqueous solution using brass granular media was evaluated using batch tests. The results showed that the removal of dissolved copper and lead was first order with respect to both brass and dissolved metal ion concentration. Reaction rate constants of 1.7×10-4 and 7.5×10 -5 L/gbrass·s were obtained for the removal of copper and lead, respectively. The data indicated that the mechanism of dissolved metal removal by brass consists of reduction of the dissolved metal ions by elemental zinc (Zn(s)) in the brass media, accompanied by a corresponding release of zinc ions into solution. © 2012 American Water Works Association AWWA WQTC Conference Proceedings.
