摘要In this paper, the contents of eight heavy metals in the tributary surface sediment of the Three Gorges Reservoir were measured after the 175-m-impoundment stage. The results indicated that the Cr and Mn contents were lower than that of the background values of the soil, possibly due to natural weathering and erosion. According to the results of the analysis, the Pb, Hg, Cu, Zn, and As sources were significantly related, which could have been due to the high tributary discharge of industrial wastewater. The Cd content of the surface sediment could have been the result of human agricultural activities and coal consumption. The enrichment values of the heavy metals in the tributary surface sediment were ranked in descending order as Cd>Pb>Cu>Zn>Mn>Cr. The Three Gorge Reservoir exhibited a medium potential ecological risk level. © 2016 Taylor & Francis Group, London.
