摘要This case study delineates the evaluation and interpretation of a large water quality monitoring dataset obtained from a reach of a lake basin in China, using the multivariate statistical method-CSFPCA. This method was newly proposed to measure correlations between monitoring items and multivariate time-series water data with an explantation from the theory of principal components analysis (PCA), directly reflecting different importances of monitoring items in water quality changes. This application showed salinity, total solid, seawater specific gravity were closely associated with the water quality variations, in accordance with the analysis result of traditional PCA. This study indicates applicability and necessity of multivariate statistical techniques for evaluation and interpretation with a view to get better information from large water quality datasets.
