摘要Catalytic combustion of VOCs is one of the most promising technologies for removal of VOCs. Developing new and highly performance catalyst is very important for the application of this technology. Here, we report the fabrication of catalysts Ir/Ce/gamma-Al2O3 for complete oxidation of toluene, via confining the particles size of CeO2 additives. The catalysts are analyzed by XRD, H-2-TPR, O-2-TPD, TEM, HRTEM, XPS, Raman and in-situ DRIFTS. The catalyst Ir/Ce(A)/Al2O3 contains small CeO2 nanoparticles (<5 nm) loaded with ultrafine nanoparticles of Ir-0 (<2 nm), exhibiting higher catalytic activity for toluene oxidation than the control catalyst with large CeO2 additives. The results from XRD, TEM, Raman and XPS show the formation of a strong interaction between the IrO2 and the small CeO2 nanoparticles, resulting in the enhanced catalytic activity. This novel means for synthesizing the iridium-based catalyst promises the catalytic oxidation of VOCs.
